  • Fill the Van for CAN!

Each year, the month of April is nationally recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month.  In April 2003, St. Matthew’s began what has become an annual event…our “Fill the Van for CAN” event.  This year will be the 16th year the CAN Council has benefited from the enormous generosity of our St. Matthew’s family!

The last Sunday in April is known as “Blue Sunday”; a nationally recognized day of prayer for abused and neglected children.  Our “Fill the Van for CAN” event will be held on Sunday, April 29thAs a long time supporter, volunteer, former Board Member, and now part-time employee for the CAN Council, as well as an adult survivor of child abuse, I invite you to share with me in accomplishing the CAN Council’s mission:  “We are building a community where children are free from abuse and neglect”.

On Sunday, April 29th, the CAN Council’s van will be available in St. Matthew’s parking lot until12:00 Noon in anticipation of filling it with items from the CAN Council Wish List. By donating these items that this non-profit organization would otherwise have to purchase, this event allows the CAN Council the opportunity to put their funds toward prevention, education, and awareness programs.  There is also a Kash for Kids” container available at St. Matthew’s during the month of April for monetary donations.

Please say a prayer for the children and join us in our work by participating in the 16th Annual “Fill a Van for CAN” event on Sunday, April 29th.

Thank you all for your continued support!!

  • St. Paul’s – Feeding Program

Our next feeding at St. Paul’s is April 22, 2018.  Several times a year, volunteers from St. Matthew’s purchase, prepare and serve the hungry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  This is an amazing outreach program that St. Paul’s has been providing for many years.  They depend on the help of other churches and organizations to provide this service.

There is a Sign-up sheet in our Fellowship Hall if you are interested in volunteering to purchase the food, prepare the meal and/or help serve the meal.

Future feeding dates in 2018:  April 22, May 20, September 9, November 11

  • ECP

Our next project is getting ready for Rev. Mary Jo’s installation on May 17.  Volunteers from the men’s club are needed to help us ready the church. A date to clean the church is yet to be determined.  A dessert reception will be held after the service, so all you bakers brush off your best recipes to share with our Provisional Bishop, Cate. Thanks!
